India and South Korea Discuss Expanding Future Economic Cooperation

India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal held high-level discussions with South Korean leaders to strengthen future bilateral cooperation, focusing on trade, investment, and emerging sectors.

The meetings, held during the visit of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, centered on expanding economic ties and exploring new opportunities in areas such as technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, and digital innovation. Both sides reviewed progress under existing partnerships and emphasized the need to deepen collaboration in advanced industries and resilient supply chains amid global uncertainties.

Sitharaman’s discussions highlighted cooperation in financial services, fintech, and investment mechanisms, including opportunities in India’s international financial hubs. Meanwhile, Goyal engaged with Korean business leaders to promote investments, innovation, and participation in India’s industrial and manufacturing ecosystem.

The talks also addressed improving ease of doing business and facilitating smoother investment flows, with both countries expressing interest in scaling up bilateral trade and long-term industrial collaboration. The engagement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the India–South Korea economic partnership and advancing joint initiatives in key growth sectors.
